Songs of Struggle

Programme

Songs of StruggleThis event features some of Scotland's finest singers at the Assembly Rooms, the beautiful venue at the heart of Edinburgh's New Town. To celebrate Woodie Guthrie's centenary, Alastair McDonald, Dave Anderson, Arthur Johnstone, and Sheena Wellington[1] will perform a selection of Guthrie's works and other classics describing the struggles of ordinary people.

Singer-songwriter Woodie Guthrie inspired generations of politically aware musicians. He had a huge impact on Scottish folk song and  to this day, his music continues to enthuse political activists in their fight for social justice.
